The Gardens
Because Hazle Buck Ewing had such a love for nature and the environment,
it is fitting that her home, once called Sunset Hill, is sited in
a beautiful landscape. Native shrubs and trees fill the property,
and the bluebells that come up early in the spring are an eagerly
awaited sign of the beautiful summer days to come. Hazle loved the
bluebells so much that she gave “starts” to her new neighbors
along Sunset Road, a tradition that lingers still in the neighborhood.
There are many gardens at Ewing, with spots for quiet contemplation
and enjoyment of the setting. The grounds at Ewing Manor are a splendid
retreat in the heart of the city, and are equally spectacular in the
full bloom of summer or blanketed in snow.
